The Archaeology in Annapolis program is a partnership between the Department of Anthropology at the University of Maryland at College Park and the City of Annapolis.

Since 1981, the program has run an annual field school in urban archeaeology and has excavated over 40 sites throughout the city’s historic district.

Projects focus on discovering and learning about everyday objects from the past. They seek to interpret how people of all walks of life actually lived. A key goal is revealing less-well-known aspects of Annapolis's past—by uncovering the voices of those whose stories have typically been left out of the history books.
