His Majesty's Marines at Hogshead: Shore Leave 1772
Date: Saturday, November 12, 2022
Location: Hogshead, 43 Pinkney Street
Time: 11 am - 3 pm
The British are here! His Majesty's Marines have been given shore leave and are taking a break from their revenue-enforcing duties. Come visit with the Marines in their land quarters at the Hogshead in Annapolis. It looks like trouble may be brewing in some of the colonies.
A special talk, “Conversations with the General,” will be presented at 11:30 am and 2 pm. The Brigadier General will be discussing the situation in the colonies in 1772.
Throughout the day, chat with other Marines to learn about their unique branch of service as soldiers of the Admiralty, serving on the high seas and in the Chesapeake Bay with the Royal Navy. The Marines will explain their uniforms and kits they wear, the weapons they carry, and how they serve as Briton's sea soldiers across the empire and around the world – and they may even try to recruit you! Families and those Loyal to the King are welcome.
