Maryland Hall, London Town other heritage programs win $489,000 in state grantsDate: Capital Gazette, July 16, 2019, Capital Gazette Staff Renovations at Maryland Hall, a new garden complex at Historic London Town and Gardens and several new museum exhibits were awarded almost half a million dollars in state grants last week. The Maryland Heritage Areas Authority announced the eight Anne Arundel matching grants totaling $489,500, part of $5 million in state funding for heritage statewide.
$100,000 will be used by Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts for repair and improvements to its east facade.
$50,000 will go to “Our Changing Waterfront’ – Exhibit Fabrication and Installation,” an exhibit at the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park. $48,000 for planning a museum exhibit at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center at the Sellman-Kirkpatrick-Howitt House, the original home at the research site in Edgewater. $24,000 for Historic Annapolis, which will use the money to complete design of its planned exhibit “History of Annapolis Exhibit: Design Documentation Completion.” $23,000 for “A vision for Visitation,” a capital improvement project at Captain Avery Museum in Shady Side.
