Winter Lecture Series: Finding Nace Butler

An enslaved man named Nace Butler ran away from his master, who advertised for his return in 1786. But who was this Nace Butler and how was he related to Eleanor Butler, an Irish indentured servant who had married an ensalved man named Charles in 1681? Join Historian Jean Russo as she traces the detective work that broke through the brick wall and solved the mystery.
