DESCRIPTION:Mr. PacaÕs Garden Storytime is a fun hour full of reading and activities in the William Paca Garden\, a secret treasure in the Historic District of Annapolis. Each program is designed for little ones\, 3-7 years\, with a book reading\, song\, and craft/art project\, plus time to explore the Paca Garden following the story hour. \nÒMotherÕs Day\, Here I Come!Ó by David Steinberg \nThis MotherÕs Day letÕs have a delightful ÒswitcherooÓ where the kids take the lead in treating their moms\, grandmas\, and nanas like queens. They can surprise her with breakfast in bed and create heartfelt handmade cards\, giving the moms a well-deserved break! \nWeÕre honoring MotherÕs Day and celebrating moms everywhere. Join us on our beautiful historic garden terrace for a unique MotherÕs Day craft! \nGeneral Admission:  $5 Adults\, $10 Children\, HA Members and Military: Adults FREE\, $8 Children \n \nAdvance registration required\, space is limited.  \n Please Note: An adult must accompany their child(ren) for the entirety of the program; garden time is not supervised by staff. Activities are held outdoors on the tented terrace at the William Paca House & Garden when possible. In the event of inclement weather\, the activities will be held inside in our conference room. Masks are optional; hand sanitizer is always available\, and if you are feeling sick\, please stay home. This program does not include snacks due to food allergies; food is not permitted in the garden.  \nAccessibility: Visitors with limited mobility can access this program via the driveway of the Paca House. DESCRIPTION:Fighting and Praying in Colonial Native America presented by Dr. Richard Bell   \nWhat did Native peoples do when confronted by European settlement in North America? The changing balance of power between Native Americans and European colonists is one of the biggest stories of the 17th century. That tense and constantly shifting relationship provided the context for almost everything that happened in American history before the Revolution. What were the sources of those conflicts? How did both sides try to appease one other? When and why did cooperation break out or break down? Who had the advantage in wars like the Pequot War\, King PhilipÕs War\, and the Yamassee War? Who had the advantage in times of peace? And how does Christianity and the urge to save souls affect Native-European relations across North America?  \nThe Historic Annapolis 2025 Virtual Lecture Series is offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. If you enjoy this program\, we hope you will consider becoming a member or making a donation today to support Historic Annapolis and our mission to connect all people with our shared history.  \nCost: FREE \n \nAbout the Presenter \nDr. Richard Bell is Associate Professor of History at the University of Maryland and author of the new book Stolen: Five Free Boys Kidnapped into Slavery and Their Astonishing Odyssey Home.  He has won more than a dozen teaching awards\, including the University System of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching\, the highest honor for teaching faculty in the Maryland state system. He has held major research fellowships at Yale\, Cambridge\, and the Library of Congress and is the recipient of the National Endowment of the Humanities Public Scholar award.
