Each program is designed for little ones\, 3-7 years\, with a book reading\, song\, and craft/art project\, plus time to explore the Paca Garden following the story hour. \nMy Friend Earth by Patricia MacLachlan\nPerfect for Earth Day—and every day!—My Friend Earth is an homage to our wonderful planet. Our friend Earth does so many wonderful things! She tends to animals large and small. She pours down summer rain and autumn leaves. She sprinkles whisper-white snow and protects the tiny seeds waiting for spring. \nJoin us in celebrating Earth Day in the garden with a song\, a craft\, and a scavenger hunt! \nAdvance registration required\, space is limited. \nCost: $10 per Child and $5 per Adult for General Admission; $8 per Child and Free for Adults for HA Members and Military \n \nThis program will also be held on Tuesday\, April 14. \nPlease Note: An adult must accompany their child(ren) for the entirety of the program; garden time is not supervised by staff. And while we may think of Americans living in the 1700s as largely the subject of genealogy research\, they were active participants in what was a foundational interest and practice in their own time. Family histories were deeply meaningful for diverse early Americans\, but it was also baked into the very structures of their society through law\, politics\, and religion. From deep research across 18th century British America\, Karin Wulf’s new book\, Lineage: Genealogy and the Power of Connection in Early America examines how we can understand the role of genealogy then\, and its impact now. \nThe Historic Annapolis Virtual Lecture Series is offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided garden tour of the Paca Garden\, a beautifully restored colonial English garden. A knowledgeable docent will share its history from its Revolutionary beginnings during the time of William Paca\, signer of the Declaration of Independence\, to today. \nExplore the two-acre terraced landscape and formal parterres\, as well as the wilderness garden\, kitchen and medicinal gardens\, and orchard. Along the way\, you’ll see features such as the fishpond and the Summerhouse folly and learn about the garden plants\, wildlife\, and ongoing care. \nAdvance registration recommended\, space is limited. Walk-ins will be accommodated only as space permits. \nCost: $12 General Admission; $7 for Children (3-17); Free for HA Members and Children under 3 \nSOLD OUT for April\, but you can catch the next ones on May 23 or June 27! \n \n\nAccessibility: This event takes place in the William Paca Garden. Explore the difficult choices between patriotism\, loyalty\, and neutrality as Native communities struggled to protect their ways of life. \nAnalyze the destruction caused by the Sullivan Campaign and evaluate the lasting historical impact of Algonkian peoples on both the Patriots and Loyalists. \nThis is a drop-in style program. Visitors may join at any time during program hours and explore at their own pace through informal interaction and demonstrations. Advance registration recommended\, but not required. \nCost: Free ($5 suggested donation) \n \n  \nAbout Our Presenter: Drew Shuptar-Rayvis (Pekatawas MakataweU “Black Corn”) holds a cum laude Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Sociology from Western Connecticut State University and a Certificate Degree in Archaeology from Norwalk Community College. A true American of the mid-Atlantic region\, his family includes indigenous Pocomoke heritage\, Pennsylvania Dutch\, Welsh\, Swiss\, English\, Scots-Irish\, Boyko Ukrainian and Ashkanazi Jewish\, he honors all of his ancestors as a practicing living historian and regularly participates in colonial era reenactments\, interpretations and public educational events. He has studied and become proficient in the reading of Wampum and works diligently in the research and preservation of the Eastern Woodland languages\, particularly Renape and Mahican and is educated in the many European languages at use in the Colonial Period. He was the first garden manager of Western Connecticut State University’s Permaculture Garden\, and practices Native horticulture. Campbell\, HA’s retired Senior Historian\, this 90-minute\, 1.5-mile walking tour begins at the Museum of Historic Annapolis (99 Main Street) and ends at the Maryland State House\, with stops at eleven other sites along the way. \nPlease wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather\, as the tour is held rain or shine. Campbell grew up in New Jersey and earned degrees in History from the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S.\, 1986) and University of Maryland\, College Park (M.A.\, 1994).  During his active-duty naval service\, he tracked Soviet submarines in the North Atlantic\, directed Naval Academy admissions programs for the Midwest region\, and taught Western Civilization courses to Navy midshipmen. Mr. Campbell first joined the staff of Historic Annapolis in 1997 and was named Senior Historian of the non-profit historic preservation and education organization in 2008.
