Travel back in time to Annapolis October 19, 1774! When the people of Annapolis discovered the brigantine, the Peggy Stewart, contained contraband tea violating the colonists’ non-importation resolution, ship owner Anthony Stewart was forced to burn the ship down to the waterline with sails and colors still flying.
Immerse yourself in this history as you listen to University of Maryland historian Richard Bell dramatically recap the pivotal moments leading to the burning of the Peggy Stewart. Mingle among the Revolutionary townspeople of Annapolis and enjoy music provided by Monumental City Fife and Drum Corps.

Immediately following this presentation at 7 pm, the John Paul Jones Chapter of the Maryland Sons of the American Revolution will present a drone show experience to commemorate the burning of the Peggy Stewart over Annapolis Harbor – more information can be found here.
