Each program is designed for little ones\, 3-7 years\, with a book reading\, song\, and craft/art project\, plus time to explore the Paca Garden following the story hour. \nÒMy Family Plays MusicÓ by Judy Cox and Elbrite Brown \nIt’s Music Appreciation Month! “My Family Plays Music” is a beautiful story about a young girl who comes from a diverse musical family. From a great-grandmother who plays an organ at church to an aunt who plays vibes with a jazz combo. She tries out lots of instruments so she can play with her whole family! Do you enjoy music? Do you play an instrument? Do you know anyone who does? Join us on our beautiful terrace as we share a story about a family of music-loving musicians! We’re also making our very own African Kalimba instrument! \nGeneral Admission:  $5 Adults\, $10 Children\, HA Members and Military: Adults FREE\, $8 Children \n \nAdvance registration required\, space is limited. \nPlease Note: An adult must accompany their child(ren) for the entirety of the program; garden time is not supervised by staff. Activities are held outdoors on the tented terrace at the William Paca House & Garden when possible. In the event of inclement weather\, the activities will be held inside in our conference room. Join us for this special yoga series with Cathy Shaw. \nThis 50-minute Vinyasa yoga style class is designed for all levels and includes sequences such as sun salutations\, standing and seated postures\, back bending and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness. DESCRIPTION:Why did so many 17th century Americans believe that witches walked among them? How could they balance their faith in reason with a belief system that encouraged them to see wondrous signs of God’s love and the Devil’s temptations all around them? How did they respond when they believed the devil’s servants were stalking their own communities? One response was\, of course\, the witch-hunt\, dozens of which pock-marked the early history of the English colonies in North America. What were the hall-marks of a witch-hunt and why is the outbreak of witch-hunting in Salem\, Massachusetts\, in 1692\, still so well-known today? Why did that tragic episode in Salem claim so many innocent lives and how have historians tried to explain its peculiar dynamics\, impact\, and legacy?   \n \nThe Historic Annapolis 2025 Virtual Lecture Series is offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. He has held major research fellowships at Yale\, Cambridge\, and the Library of Congress and is the recipient of the National Endowment of the Humanities Public Scholar award. He serves as a Trustee of the Maryland historical Society\, as an elected member of the Massachusetts Historical Society\, and as a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

With their mom’s assistance in organizing everything\, they occasionally divert their dad’s attention with a silly dance. Come along as we uncover the delightful surprises the trio has planned for their dad! Join us for this special yoga series with Cathy Shaw. \nThis 50-minute Vinyasa yoga style class is designed for all levels and includes sequences such as sun salutations\, standing and seated postures\, back bending and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness. The changing balance of power between Native Americans and European colonists is one of the biggest stories of the 17th century. That tense and constantly shifting relationship provided the context for almost everything that happened in American history before the Revolution. What were the sources of those conflicts? How did both sides try to appease one other? When and why did cooperation break out or break down? Who had the advantage in wars like the Pequot War\, King PhilipÕs War\, and the Yamassee War? Who had the advantage in times of peace? Richardson is a published author\, performance poet and Frederick Douglass Historian. He is the author of four collections of poetry and teaches a variety of workshops for emerging writers and spoken word artists. Nathan is now in the 10th year of The Frederick Douglass Speaking Tour – a living history performance that captures completely the physical\, spiritual and intellectual essence of the former slave\, writer\, orator and abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Nathan is a Chautauqua Scholar with living history performances at The White House Visitors Center\, American Studies Programs at Christopher Newport University\, Founding Forward at Valley Forge\, PA and other universities across the country. What role did cash crops like sugar\, tobacco\, and rice play in places like Jamaica\, Virginia\, and South Carolina? Jeff served as the director of the Annapolis Maritime Museum and the Riverkeeper for the West and Rhode Rivers. He co-founded the Chesapeake folk group ÒCrab AlleyÓ in the 1980s and 90s and founded ÒThem Eastport Oyster BoysÓ with partner Kevin Brooks in 1992. He lives in Annapolis with his emotional support spouse\, Louise White and their rescue retriever\, Millie. Jeff has released a collection of the outdoors columns that appear in the Annapolis Capital newspaper. For PJ\, thereÕs clearly nothing wrong with walking on your hands while grocery shopping\, although her mother thinks feet are best for that kind of activity. Upside Down is Right Side Up is a fun look at the world of a 9-year-old girl\, PJ\, who enters an unfamiliar place that has new rules\, new roles\, and where few things are ever right side up! What unfolds is a love for gymnastics and deeper respect for differences. \n  \nAfter story time\, explore the Museum on your own with a scavenger hunt! \nA limited number of books will be available for purchase. \nAdvance registration required\, space is limited. She trained at Royal T’s Gymnastics Team in Crofton\, MD. Racine started gymnastics at the age of 13. She competed as a Class 1 gymnast (currently known as Level 10) for four years and competed at Elite trials prior to college.She was the first Black gymnast to win the Maryland State All Around title in 1982. In 1984\, Racine was the first Black female gymnast at the University of Nebraska. She received a full athletic scholarship and competed all four years. Racine was an Academic All-Big Eight and earned two Big Eight team championships on her resume along with finishing twice as a top ten team at the Division 1 NCAA National Championships. \nShe received her BS in Human Development in 1989 and earned her MA in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in 1992. Racine is currently a healthcare professional and professional organizer. She enjoys traveling\, supporting the gymnastics community\, crocheting\, and serving the community. Racine is married and has two adult children. \n\n \n \n \n\nAccessibility Considerations: An accessible entrance is available\, located to the right of the buildingÕs main entrance.
