Celebrate all things Maryland with the Annapolis Living Historians. Meet William Paca, the gentry, and their household servants, and learn what is happening in our colony during the year 1772, and how it affects the future of our residents. Stroll the 2-acre garden, an oasis of natural beauty laid out by William Paca…you may meet a member of the gentry or a servant planting the garden. Although many Colonial Annapolitans had gardens, only his garden was returned to its original splendor.
Hogshead
43 Pinkney Street
Take a short walk down Pinkney Street to Hogshead, where you’ll find the First Maryland Regiment, under the command of General William Smallwood, encamped. Learn about this regiment, Maryland's first heroes of the Revolutionary War, who would one day become known as the Maryland 400. Meet the men as they prepare to leave Annapolis and head into battle, watch them drill for the upcoming fight with British forces, and talk with their families and see how they prepare their supplies. Learn how the efforts and courage of these men allowed the rest of the Continental Army to escape complete destruction at the first major battle of the Revolutionary War.
Waterfront Warehouse
4 Pinkney Street
Visit a rare surviving example of a small Annapolis waterfront warehouse from the 18th century. Today you’ll discover the model of our city, circa the late 18th century, featuring a birds-eye view of the historic landscape. A volunteer will be on hand to share tales of the waterfront and those who worked there.
