A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT: What a month!

This month we have been especially social, welcoming longtime friends while making new ones. The Paca Girlfriends Party earlier this month was a highlight — a lively summer soirée set in the garden, glowing with vibrant color and light. What makes it even more special is how, over the past 17 years, the event has evolved to be more intergenerational. For many, it was a perfect blend of a GNO (Girls’ Night Out) and a MDNO (Mothers & Daughters’ Night Out)!”

 Check out the event photos!

This month we also hosted an awards event for the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, a volunteer appreciation reception for our dedicated docents and volunteers, several weddings and receptions, and welcomed decorative arts students from across the country attending the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts Summer Institute. A highlight of June that we look forward to sponsoring every year is the Annapolis Juneteenth Gala, Parade, and Festival. This city-wide celebration has grown significantly over the past few years, now filling the county fairgrounds and spanning two full days.

We expect the month of July to be just as impactful, if not more. Kick off your Independence Day with us on the Paca House terrace this Friday to welcome the newest members of the American family during an impactful naturalization ceremony. This annual event, conducted by officials from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is free and open to the public (though please note that seating is limited). As the day progresses, our museums will come alive with the help of our living history volunteers and special guests, including Frederick Douglass and the Annapolis Living Historians.

We are excited by all the great attention that Annapolis (and HA) has been getting – from the New York Times ($)to CNN and social media, and we are especially proud of our feature piece in Annapolis Home’s Faces of Annapolis annual issue – “Mighty HA!”

On your next visit to City Dock, be sure to check out the brand-new billboard on Dock Street, that showcases Annapolis’s “Beautiful Historic Seaport.” Can you identify the landmarks and objects in the letters? It’s a fun way to remind us – all summer long—that indeed, Annapolis is the best historic small town in America.

And while you are downtown, come visit our properties. Come enjoy the fun and discovery of our programs. Come live our history!
