Annapolis, MD — May 23, 2025 – Historic Annapolis is excited to welcome visitors this summer with enhanced accessibility features across its properties, reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the rich history and culture of Maryland’s capital city.
The Museum of Historic Annapolis offers a fully accessible and family-friendly experience, with elevator access to all levels and accessible restrooms conveniently located on the second floor. At the William Paca House and Garden, the top terrace level and the Paca House Conference Room are fully accessible, with an accessible restroom also available on site. Virtual tour offerings are available on the rear terrace.
In a significant development, a new ramp has been installed in the Paca Garden, allowing easier access to the lower terrace level. This improvement not only enhances the everyday visitor experience but also facilitates better access during special events. Additional upgrades, including universal access pathways and ramps, are in the works and are expected to be completed by 2026.
Historic Annapolis has also introduced monthly ASL-interpreted tours at the William Paca House and Garden. These inclusive tours are open to the public, and specific dates can be found on the Paca House tour webpage.
Both the Museum of Historic Annapolis and the William Paca House & Garden are proud to be certified by KultureCity®. HA staff are trained to support guests with sensory needs, and visitors can check out KultureCity Sensory Bags—equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and more—at both sites. This initiative was made possible in part by a grant from the City of Annapolis.
Historic Annapolis is also dedicated to making history affordable by partnering with programs that offer reduced or free admission:
- Museums for All: Free admission for families participating in SNAP assistance.
- Blue Star Museums: Free admission for active-duty and reserve military members and their families from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day.
- Anne Arundel County Public Library Museum Passes: Free weekly passes for up to four guests, available through the local library system.
“At Historic Annapolis, we believe history should be accessible to everyone,” said Karen Theimer Brown, President and CEO of Historic Annapolis. “Through strong partnerships with both public and private organizations, we’re proud to expand our inclusive offerings and ensure that more people can fully experience the stories, sites, and programs that make Annapolis so special.”
