History is closer than you think.

Annapolis stands at a remarkable milestone: 250 years of history, culture, and American heritage. From our city’s beginnings in 1649 through our pivotal role in the American Revolution and beyond, Annapolis has been a witness to the nation’s most defining moments. The semiquincentennial offers an unprecedented opportunity spark your curiosity and deepen your connection to our city’s story, from the earliest days of settlement through the vibrant, diverse community we are today.

Throughout 2026, we invite you to discover the people, places, and events that have shaped Annapolis across two and a half centuries. Our programming honors every chapter of this journey, recognizing both the celebrated milestones and the untold stories that deserve to be heard.

Experience immersive living history demonstrations, take guided tours through our historic sites and neighborhoods, attend thought-provoking lectures from leading historians, and participate in celebrations that connect past and present. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, a history enthusiast, or a first-time visitor, there are countless ways to engage with the 250-year legacy of our nation in Annapolis.

This semiquincentennial is more than a commemoration. It is an invitation to be part of the ongoing story of Annapolis, a moment to reflect on where we have been and to envision where we are headed as a community.
