William Paca is remembered as one of the four Maryland patriots who signed the Declaration of Independence, but that historic moment in 1776 is best understood in the broader context of his personal and political lives._ Glenn E. Campbell, retired Senior Historian of Historic Annapolis, outlines the basic_contours of PacaÕs life and highlights his public service through three revolutionary decades.

About Our Presenter: Glenn E. Campbell grew up in New Jersey and earned degrees in History from the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S., 1986) and University of Maryland, College Park (M.A., 1994). During his active-duty naval service, he tracked Soviet submarines in the North Atlantic, directed Naval Academy admissions programs for the Midwest region, and taught Western Civilization courses to Navy midshipmen. Mr. Campbell first joined the staff of Historic Annapolis in 1997 and was named Senior Historian of the non-profit historic preservation and education organization in 2008. He has presented numerous lectures on local history topics and received the 2020 Heritage Leadership Award from the Four Rivers Heritage Area.
