Join Jobie Hill, Preservation Architect and Founding Director of Saving Slave Houses, for her presentation, Bearing Witness to Our Ancestors’ Legacies, featuring work her organization is doing at Pharsalia Plantation in Nelson County, Virginia.

The exploration of the intersections between the built environment, history, humanities, descendant engagement, community, and storytelling has revealed new insights about the lives of enslaved people, the economy of slavery, building wealth, and historic sites of slavery.

Saving Slave Houses is a nonprofit that facilitates projects dedicated to the interpretation and preservation of the living and working environments of enslaved people, integrated with both their own personal oral histories and historical records related to the business of slavery.

The lecture will run from 6-7pm, followed by a reception from 7-8pm.
